About Us

Jim Smith's Christmas Trees sold trees for the first time in 1975 at the old Barbeque King location on Pleasantburg Drive in Greenville, S.C..  I partnered with my father-in-law, Harley Woods, who sold cedar trees with his father at the State Farmers Market on Rutherford Road.  Before that, they sold trees at the Tailgate Produce Market on Court Street in downtown Greenville.  They sold Christmas Trees downtown until the new Greenville Farmers Market opened in 1949 at its present location.

My wife, Elaine, grew up with Christmas Trees sales being a part of every Christmas season.  When we married, I became interested in Christmas Trees and her father and I opened the location on Pleasantburg Drive.  After selling at this location for 4 years we moved to Haywood Road where we have sold for more than 45 years.  Today, our new permanent location is 9383 Augusta Road, Pelzer, SC where we not only sell Christmas trees, but also Wreaths, Garland, Stands, and other accessories.

Over the years we have met many wonderful people who have become great customers as well as friends.  We have watched our children grow into adults and now see their children come and select their family tree.  This means two things; First is we are getting older and hopefully wiser.  Second and the most important is a satisfied customer that returns year after year.
